SUCCESS!!

Before anything else, I just wanted to THANK all the people who made Reg's birthday surprise possible (lol, cliche huh?).  From Eileen & family, Chris & Grace, Godfrey & Binh, Cherryl & Russ, Pedro & Rose... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART!  Thank you all for helping me make Reggie's day special!!!

Around Halloween, I finally got an email circulating preparing everyone for the Reg's surprise party.  I gave everyone gift suggestions, the location, date and time.  Usually, we would pick a restaurant to have dinner at and then leave it up to the celebrant to decide where to go afterwards.  Reg had been especially excited for his birthday this year because HALO 2 (Xbox game... LOL!) was coming out around the same time (the 9th).  He was really forlorn; he so wished we could host a Halo party at our place for his birthday, but there just isn't enough space and it would've been so hot (no aircon in our living room guys... SUCKS!).  So it was just perfect that our friend suggested that we have the party at her place (THANKS SO MUCH FOR OFFERING, EILEEN!!! LOVE YOU!!!) where the boys would be able to play with their toys.    But for all Reg knew, we were just going out to dinner.

LOL!  ON the DAY of the party, our friend Godfrey (out of excitement, I'm sure!) contacted Reggie and asked if we would be bringing a hub to connect all the Xbox consoles) for the multiplayer tournaments.  Reg pretty much had an idea from there on what we had in store for him.  Godfrey's gonna get it!!!    Ooooh!  LOL! J-K!  I knew he didn't mean to slip.  I know he felt really bad, which made ME feel equally as bad.  I'm really happy because it all turned out well.  Reg really enjoyed himself and was glad that his wish came true.  Don't worry Godfrey - really, I'm not mad!!

The night BEFORE was Reg's actual birthday.  That morning, I greeted him as we woke up and tried not to act too suspicious.  You see, I had a plan for him that evening.  I hoped and prayed he wouldn't suspect a thing!  Before he got off of work, I let him know that I was going to pick him up - he admitted later on that I seemed too eager and that gave him the idea that I was planning on taking him to dinner.  So much for that surprise... he had even voiced his suspicions to all his co-workers!  No wonder they were all looking at me with smiles on their faces.  I just thought they liked my pie.  Oh! I forgot to mention that I brought a chocolate pie over to share with his co-workers.

LOL...I was lying out of my  during the entire ride!  But the entire time I was giving my explanations, Reg became more and more sure that I had something up my sleeve.  It was no wonder why he didn't even question why we ended up at Royal Restaurant - the smile on his face said it all.  But it's okay, he had another surprise waiting at home.

Oh!  I have to mention that when I had gotten home that afternoon, I had set up my gift in our bedroom.  See, I had bought Reggie a new celly.  His was getting old and just wasn't reliable.  So about a week before Reg's birthday, I purchased a new unit, disconnected his old one and activated the new one.  So imagine Reggie dealing with a dead phone the whole week, thinking it was just crapping on him!  I had to keep a straight face whenever he would ask me if I received any of his texts.  I KNOW!  It was mean - but I meant well!!

Anyway...as we walked in the door, I waited for Reg to head to the bedroom before I called his new cell.  LOL!  Stupid of me, I had forgotten to take it off vibrate earlier so it was a while before Reg heard it.  When he did, you want to know what his response was?  Oh, he was surprised but only because he thought I had bought the phone for myself!!!    Didn't take him long to realize it was for him.  While he was looking it over and reading my card, I snuck away to the kitchen to light up the candles on his cake (chocolate-mocha with fruits on top...mmmmm!) hoping he wasn't too full.  LMAO!!  I had it sitting in the fridge, with the candles already stuck in it!  PREPARATION, I tell you!!  As I walked in the bedroom and he turned. I knew he was going to thank me but I made sure he stopped and thought about his wish first before blowing out his candles.

I put three candles.  No sense in rubbing in his age, right?

Anyway... I'm very confident that he enjoyed himself.  In fact, I fell asleep while he was customizing his phone!!  All in all, he said he enjoyed his birthday and I'm glad.  I hope so - I wanted to make it special.  Now... I'm worried that I'll not have any good ideas for his birthday next year.  Oh well, I hope I'll think of something!
